There are so many reasons this stitch is one of my favorites:
- Beginner friendly and easy to learn
- Only 2 rows to repeat
- Creates a beautiful airy lace texture
- Perfect for summer garments
- Works beautifully with cotton, bamboo, or lightweight yarns
The open lace design makes the fabric breathable and flowy, which is exactly what we want for warm weather projects.

Notes:
- This lace crochet stitch is a 2 rows repeat (row 2 and row 3)
- This lace crochet stitch is in a multiple of 12+4 chains
What does “multiple of 12 + 4” mean?
This simply means your foundation chain needs to be built in groups of 12 stitches.
For example, you can start with:
- 12 + 4 chains
- 24 + 4 chains
- 36 + 4 chains
- 48 + 4 chains
Continue adding groups of 12 chains until you reach the width you want.
Then add 4 extra chains at the end to complete the foundation chain.
These extra 4 chains help the stitch pattern line up correctly when you start the first row.
