Crochet Kimono Pattern (Free Pattern + Video Tutorial XS-4XL)

Looking for a lightweight crochet kimono pattern that’s perfect for warm weather? This airy crochet kimono is designed with beautiful cluster stitches, an easy-to-wear relaxed fit, and lightweight fingering weight yarn, making it the perfect layering piece for spring and summer.

Whether you’re heading to the beach, relaxing by the pool, enjoying a summer festival, or simply looking for a stylish layer to throw over a tank top, this crochet kimono adds just the right amount of coverage without feeling heavy or bulky.

The pattern is available in sizes XS through 4XL and includes both a free written pattern and a step-by-step video tutorial. The kimono is constructed in three simple pieces that are sewn together, making it much easier than it may look at first glance.

The delicate cluster stitch creates an open, breathable fabric with beautiful drape while still being enjoyable to crochet thanks to the simple repeating stitch pattern. Once the setup rows are complete, you’ll be repeating the same rows throughout most of the project, making it a relaxing and beginner-friendly garment pattern.

If you’d like a printable version with detailed photo tutorials, you can also find the PDF version in my Etsy, Ravelry, and LoveCrafts shops.

We all know that sometimes we want a little more coverage, but in the summer that becomes a little more cumbersome. I’ve really been into designing fashionable clothing that’s a little more comfy and loose fitting, offers that extra little bit of coverage and is still light and airy.

I hope you enjoy this free crochet kimono pattern and have as much fun wearing it as I did designing it. Happy crocheting!

Take the back and 2 front panels, place them with correct side facing down, we’ll sew on the wrong side. Using the tails that we left earlier, sew along the top of the shoulder area together using method of choice.

Sew the side of the kimono

Fold your kimono in half at the shoulder seam. Cut a new strand of yarn 50-70 inches long, enough to sew the side. Start sewing from the the bottom up, leaving the gap for the arm hole. Sew the same into the anther side make sure both sides have the same measurements. ( check picture below )
