Hello my crochet people, happy to be back to teach you some crochet stitch basics. Today, we’re going to look at the yarn over slip stitch.
Also know as a half double crochet slip stitch, the YO slip stitch is very basic and beginner friendly.

It’s a great stitch for headbands, boot cuffs, edges, coasters, hat brims, waistbands, bags etc. You can take a guess at some of the future projects we’re gonna be making 😉
I love the yarn over slip stitch for winter projects because it’s works up really thick. I you’re familiar with this stitch and have some suggestions for future projects with it, leave them in the comments.
I’m using Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick #6 Super Bulky because it suits the winter style of this stitch, as well as a 10mm crochet hook. You can use any yarn or hook size you prefer for this stitch tutorial, whatever you have is good. Just have fun!
