Crochet Crop Top Sweater (Free Pattern XS-XXL)

The Uptown Crochet Crop Top Sweater

Hello again, and welcome back! It’s been a while since I’ve made one, so here is the first official Knitcroaddict sweater of the year! It’s a crochet crop top sweater with a faux fur collar, which isn’t as difficult as it might look. I think it’s incredibly cute, kinda sexy, but I’ll let you decide 🙂

I call it the uptown crop top sweater because it’s a little funky and young, which I like. 😉

This crochet crop top sweater pattern includes sizes XS-XXL for free with ads, but if you’d like to spend a few bucks and avoid the ads, or if you just want to own it on your device, it’s available for purchase below on my Etsy, Ravelry or Lovecraft shops. The PDF’s are ad free and include a detailed photo tutorial.

Sleeve panels ( Make 2 )

Cuff

Notes :

  • For the cuff, we’re going to use the color A
  • I recommend placing the stitch marker into every row because after we’re finished with the cuff, we’ll crochet the sleeve and insert the hook into the end of each row to the cuff. So when we crochet the sleeve, it’ll be easier.
  • The fl sl st can be very tight so make sure to crochet loosely.

Row 1 ( rs ) : ch 9( 9, 9, 9, 9, 9 ), 1 sl st into second ch from hook and each ch across. Total of 8( 8, 8, 8, 8, 8 ) sl st

Row 3 – 25( 27, 31, 33, 37, 39 ) rep row 2

*Do not cut the yarn, we’ll continue using the same yarn to crochet the sleeve

Sleeve

Notes :

  • For the sleeve, we’ll keep using color A
  • After the cuff is finished, we’ll use the same yarn to crochet the sleeve.
  • Turn your cuff sideways and crochet into the end of each row of the cuff ( st for reference )

Row 1 ( rs ) : ch 1 ( do not count as a st ), 1 hdc into each st across. Total of 25( 27, 31, 33, 37, 39 ) hdc ( Check picture below )

Row 2 ( ws ) : Turn, ch 1 ( do not count as a st ), 1 hdc into each fl a cross. Total of 25( 27, 31, 33, 37, 39 ) hdc ( Check picture below )

Row 3 – 21( 21, 21, 21, 21, 21 ) rep row 2 *All the sizes are the same length. If you want a shorter sleeve, just rep row 2 less time. If you want a longer sleeve, just keep repeating row 2 more to the desired length.

The end of row 21( 21, 21, 21, 21, 21 ) cut the yarn leave 30 – 50 inches long, enough to sew the sleeve panel into the main panel ( Check picture below )

Joining the pieces together

Sew the back and 2 front panels

Take the back and 2 front panels, place them with the correct side facing down, we’ll sew in the wrong side. Using the tail that we left earlier, sew along the top of the shoulder area together using method of choice.

Sew the sleeves to the main panel

Lay your main panel correct side facing down. Place your sleeves correct side facing down and start sewing on the wrong side with your tail again. The shoulder seam of the main panel should be in the middle of the sleeves panel and even on both sides

Sew the sweater together

Fold your crop top sweater in half at the shoulder seam. Cut a new strand of yarn 60-70″ long, enough to sew the side and the sleeve. Start sewing from the bottom up to the side seam until you reach the armpit and continue sewing the sleeve side seam until you reach the end of the sleeve and then weave all the ends ( Check picture below )

Crochet around the collar

Notes :

  • For the collar, we’re going to use the color B
  • We’ll crochet into the end of each row ( st for reference )

With your sweater right side out. Start the collar working from the bottom right corner. Work all the way up and around the neck , back down to the left corner.

Add new yarn into the right front corner, ch 1 ( do not count as a st ), 1 hdc into each st across to the left front corner ( Check picture below )
