Knitting Lace Stitch

Easy Knitting Lace Stitch (Multiple of 2, 6-Row Repeat)

If you love simple lace stitches that look elegant but are easy to knit, you’re going to love this one 🤍
This knitting lace stitch is worked with an easy multiple of 2 stitches and features a simple 6-row repeat, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced knitters.

Even though it looks delicate and textured, the pattern is very easy to remember and relaxing to knit once you get going.

This stitch creates a beautiful open lace texture that works wonderfully for lightweight projects while still being easy to adjust for different sizes.

This lace stitch is very versatile and can be used for:

  • Sweaters and cardigans
  • Shawls and wraps
  • Scarves and cowls
  • Blankets and home decor
  • Lightweight accessories

I personally used this exact stitch for my Lacy Knitted Sweater, which I shared as a free pattern a few years ago. It’s still one of my favorite lace designs because it’s simple, timeless, and wearable.

If you’re a visual learner, I’ve got you covered 😊
I also created a step-by-step video tutorial showing exactly how to knit this lace stitch, row by row. Scroll down to the bottom for the tutorial.

CO in multiples of 2 stitches. For my swatch I CO 30 stitches

Row 1 (RS): Turn, K all ST across the row. Total of 30 ST

Row 2 (WS): Turn, K all ST across the row. Total of 30 ST

Row 3: Turn, K all ST across the row. Total of 30 ST

Row 4: Turn, K all ST across the row. Total of 30 ST

Row 5: Turn,K all ST across the row. Total of 30 ST

REP Row 1 – 6 until desired length.

*Tips: After repeating Rows 1–6 to your desired length, if you’d like the top edge to match the bottom of the pattern, I recommend adding another 6 rows of garter stitch (knit every row for 6 rows), then bind off on the next row.
