Everyday Crochet Pullover Top

Hello everyone, I hope the sun is shining where you are and you’re enjoying some warm weather. I think we all deserve an extra long summer after all this is over!

In the spirit of spring/summer, I’ve made us a nice short sleeve pullover project. It’s a beginner friendly crochet pullover, with a free pattern of course. There’s also the video tutorial to follow along as well.

You can wear the sleeves rolled up, which I think is the cutest, or rolled down. It can be made in two colors or kept simple with just one.

Stitches used & code

  • ch = chain
  • st = stitch(es)
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • hdc2tog = half double crochet two stitches together
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • REP = repeat
  • ” = inches

Notes :

  • This crochet pattern is made as US women’s sizes XS( S, M, L, XL, XXL )
  • For this pattern I used two colors, but you can use just one color if you like
  • This crochet pattern is made from the top down
  • In this picture I have demonstrated with size small

Yarn needed :

  • Color A = 235( 260, 300, 325, 365, 395 ) Yards
  • Color B = 220( 230, 290, 335, 390, 430 ) Yards

Gauge blocked : 11.5 hdc X 10 rows = 4″

  • XS : 33.39″ Circumference X 16″ Long
  • S : 36.17″ Circumference X 16″ Long
  • M : 40.34″ Circumference X 17.20″ Long
  • L : 43.13″ Circumference X 18″ Long
  • XL : 46.60″ Circumference X 19.20″ Long
  • XXL : 49.39″ Circumference X 20″ Long

Yoke

Notes :

  • For the yoke, we’re going to use color A
  • Make sure to place the stitch marker into the first st in each round.

Foundation chain : ch 88( 88, 96, 96, 104, 104 ), sl st into the first ch to join. Make sure your ch isn’t twisted

Round 1 : ch 1 ( do not count as a st ), 1 hdc into each ch around. Total of 88( 88, 96, 96, 104, 104 ) hdc

Round 2 : *1 hdc into each of next 7( 7, 7, 7, 7, 7 ) st, 2 hdc into next st* REP from *TO* around. Total of 99( 99, 108, 108, 117, 117 ) hdc

Round 3 : 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 99( 99, 108, 108, 117, 117 ) hdc

Round 14( 15, 16, 16, 17, 18 ) : ch 1 ( do not count as a st ), 1 hdc into each st and each ch around. Total of 96( 104, 116, 124, 134, 142 ) hdc

Round 15( 16, 17, 17, 18, 19 ) : 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 96( 104, 116, 124, 134, 142 ) hdc

Round 16( 17, 18, 18, 19, 20 ) – Round 35( 35, 38, 40, 43, 45 ) REP Round 15( 16, 17, 17, 18, 19 )

*If you want a shorter top, just make less rounds. If you want a longer top, just keep repeating round 15( 16, 17, 17, 18, 19 )

The end of round 35( 35, 38, 40, 43, 45 ) cut the yarn.

Sleeves

Notes :

  • For the sleeves, we’re going to use color A
  • Make sure to place the stitch marker into the first st in each round.

Round 1 : Add new yarn into the armpit corner, ch 1 ( do not count as a st ), hdc2tog, 1 hdc into each st until you reach the other corner and then, hdc 2tog, 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 42( 44, 48, 50, 55, 57 ) hdc ( Check picture below )

Round 2 : 1 hdc into each st around. Total of 42( 44, 48, 50, 55, 57 ) hdc

Round 3 – 9( 9, 10, 10, 11, 11 ) REP round 2

*If you want shorter sleeves, just make less rounds. If you want longer sleeves, just keep repeating round 2

The end of round 9( 9, 10, 10, 11, 11 ) cut the yarn and weave all the ends.

Repeat the same on the other side. Make sure you’ll have the same amount of the stitches and rounds!
