I wanted to get this out there while some of us still had time to wear it this year. I posted a knitted sweater vest a couple weeks ago, and a lot of the crochet peeps asked for a crochet version. So, I obliged with this crochet sweater vest pattern.
This is a simple, 2 panel project. It was made using #6 super bulky yarn, which makes it work up quickly. It’s very beginner friendly, I just used single crochet and half double crochet. There’s a little bit of decreasing as well.

The crochet sweater vest pattern would be perfect for spring and fall, so I’m hoping wherever you are, there’s still time to wear it! It’s hit or miss here, so I’ll get a couple chances to wear it at least.
If you’d like this pattern in an ad free PDF format, it’s available for purchase on all our shops below. Enjoy the pattern!
If you’re looking for something a little more weather appropriate than a crochet sweater vest for your home base, check some of these out below. I have something for nearly every occasion on here, so don’t forget to check out my older posts.

JOINING THE CROCHET SWEATER VEST PIECES TOGETHER
SEW THE SHOULDER SEAMS TOGETHER
Place your panels right side facing down. We’ll sew on the wrong side, using the tails that we left earlier. Use which ever method you prefer to sew (Both sides are sewn the same). Check picture below

SEW THE SIDE SEAMS TOGETHER
Fold your vest in half at the shoulder seam with the right sides facing each other and we will sew on the wrong side. Cut a new strand of yarn 16-20 inches long. Start sewing from the bottom of the ribbing up to row 8 or about 7-8″ to the armpit for all the sizes. I recommend trying it on at this point to make sure you’re happy with the fit and adjusting if necessary, then weave all the ends (Both sides are sewn the same). Check picture below

CROCHET AROUND THE NECK HOLE EDGE
Turn your work right side out, we’ll crochet on the right side in the round.
Round 1: Add a new yarn at the corner of the shoulder seam, ch 1 (do not count as a st), 1 sc into the same st that you just added new yarn and then place a stitch marker into the first sc, 1 sc into next st and each st around (when you reach the hdc rows and the other shoulder seam just continue to make a sc, treat them like a normal st). Total of 40( 40, 44, 44, 48, 48 ) st, if you have a couple more or less it’s ok. Check picture below

Round 2: 1 sc into each st around. Total of 40( 40, 44, 44, 48, 48 ) st, cut the yarn and weave all the ends and you’re done!
THE END. Congratulations on finishing this crochet sweater vest pattern.
