Crochet Drawstring Bag Pattern with Pom Poms

It’s getting close to the holidays, and you know what that means? Trick or treating, big family meals together and sharing gifts with loved ones. Which means you need a crochet bag pattern, and I just happen to have a crochet pom pom bag you’ll love.

I don’t think this Crochet Drawstring bag with pom poms will help you with your post turkey coma, but it can help with the trick or treating and the gifting.

This crochet pom pom bag is not only beginner friendly, it’s also a very quick project. It turned out to be super versatile in how you could wear it and use it.

I love that this crochet drawstring bag can be carried clutch style, worn over the shoulder, and even worn as a drawstring back pack. I love it so much, I’ve already made 3 as gifts and 2 for me 🙂

Some one you know will love a crochet pom pom bag as a gift, and you’ll love making it. Did I mention it will make the perfect trick or treat bag for the kids?

Thread the drawstring into the bag at any point in round 26. Weave the drawstring through each loop all the way around the bag. We will repeat the same with the second drawstring starting from the opposite side so there are drawstrings placed evenly on both sides of the bag.

Tie the ends together and add the pom pom into both ends, weave all the ends ( Check picture below )

Hi! Thank you for uploading this, I've been having fun making it but I've encountered difficulty understanding how rounds 26-27 work. Can you perhaps explain in detail how to make "rep from *to* around"? A video would certainly be most helpful too. Thanks again!

Hi there! You’re so welcome😊

Round 26 ( Color A ) : sl st into first st/the marker st, ch 4 ( count as 1 dc and ch 1 sp ), *sk next st, 1 dc into next st, ch 1* rep from *to* around, sl st into the third ch. Total of 30 dc and 30 ch 1 sp.

When the pattern says: *sk next st, 1 dc into next st, ch 1*. it means you need to repeat *sk next st, 1 dc into next st, ch 1* around. Please let me know if this makes sense. I explain in the video tutorial as well, it might help to watch it done after reading this.

Love this bag! It’s so pretty and easy to crochet. I made the drawstring a little thicker. Made it for my daughter and she’s thrilled with it. Wanted to send pic but don’t do FB.

Thank you for the pattern! Did you make a video of how to make this? When I made this the end result was uneven and I'm not sure where I went wrong

You're welcome, thank you Taylor. I did make a video of it, I'll drop the link below. Not sure what went wrong, possibly lost count of some stitches. I hope the video helps. Keep trying! My first one wasn't as good as the second of third.

Hello! This pouch is so cute! How would I adjust the size of the bag (if I want to make it smaller or bigger)? For instance, if I wanted to make a smaller pouch to hold coins or dice, or if I wanted to make a larger pouch to hold a stuffed animal or books? Thank you!

Hi Diana,

The pattern stops increasing at round 6, so if you want it bigger, you just need to keep increasing every round by 10 st evenly until you get to your desired size. I do have a lot of other bag tutorials on YouTube for bigger bags, backpacks etc, in case you're interested in taking a look. Hello! What should I do if I during the 7-25 rounds I forget to places stuck marker in first stitch. How far should I go or where should I start again?

Hi! I'd go back to round 1. You should see some connecting round between round 1 and 2. Then just follow that stitch up and place a stitch marker at whatever round you're at. If it's not perfect, it's okay. It's a pretty forgiving pattern.
