Broken Rib Stitch Knitting stitch tutorial

This broken rib stitch is very easy to make and is a popular stitch used by many knitters to give an interesting texture to their designs.

This broken rib stitch is not only easy and beautiful, but it’s useful for many items such as a ribbing for your garments, neck warmers, hats, dishcloths, garments etc. There are endless possibilities.

This knitting stitch pattern is only 2 rows repeat, it’s can be made in row or round and I’ll show you how to do both.

CO = cast on
K = knit
P = Purl
ST = stitch
REP = repeat
WS = (WS)
RS = (RS)

Notes:

The broken rib stitch can be made in row and round and I’ll show both row and round, just read the instructions below.
Made in row: the broken rib stitch is in a multiples of 2+1 stitches
Made in round: the broken rib stitch is in a multiples of 2 stitches or an even number of stitches
Made in row and round this broken bib stitch is a 2 rows repeat (row 1 and row 2)
